With their comical shape and nice colours these Boxfish seem to be merely a joyful decoration for the home. However, when viewed closely, they have been crafted with finely painted details and nuanced shades. They were designed free-hand, inspired by photographs of existing species and a borrowed taxidermied specimen. 
 
Possibly the series will be expanded with new fish, and an entire aquarium can be made (see the rough sketch between the photos).
 
The kit:
The Boxfish come with clear instructions (in Dutch), and are fun to put together, perhaps with the kids. They could also make a fine gift.
